Eclipse Predictions from Ancient to Modern Times

May 7 @ 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

Eclipse Predictions from Ancient to Modern Times

Presented by Ron Macnaughton

Modern predictions of totality using mathematical models are incredibly accurate,  but how did ancient astrologers predict eclipses – or did they?  Ron will explain various patterns of the moon observed over millennia and methods to forecast some of nature’s most exciting events.

Ron Macnaughton,  has given dozens of presentations to RASC and other groups, often about the history of astronomy.  He’s been an active member of the RASC Outreach committee including taking the picture on the StarFinder.
